"Book Fair Diner" update
We had a very successful Book Fair thanks to you! With excellent book sales of $10,000 during this week, $2300 of that goes to PTA to provide planned events and programs for our students for the remainder of the school year. A special thanks goes out to Susan Pitts, Book Fair Chairperson, for all her creativity, planning and overseeing of the spring book fair. We were very happy to see the many Moms and Grandmothers who came to school for a wonderful "Morning with Mom" and we hope you enjoyed this special time with your child/grandchild. Thank you to Terri McCloskey who organized this "sweet" event and to the volunteers who worked it!

It was a close race till the end! Congratulations to these top three classes that will have a chance to sink Principal Fillbrandt at the Dunking Book Event in March :

BBECC RECYCLES WEEK...
America Recycles Day
As an effort to raise awareness about recycling, PTA’s Environmental Committee collected recyclable plastic containers during a weeklong campaign. Students were encouraged to check their plastic bottles and containers for specific numbers on the bottoms of each to see if it was recyclable. Students wrote their names on their recyclable items and drawings were held each day from the items. PTA drew the names of 50 winners who each won a SMENCIL (The World’s only gourmet scented pencils made from 100% recycled newspaper)!
The estimated number of bottles and containers collected during this week was 900! When you plug this number in to the “Conversionator” (found on the America Recycles Day website below) it estimates that recycling this number of plastic bottles per week could yield enough fiber to make 9360 t-shirts per year. *Five PET bottles (plastic soda bottles yield enough fiber for one extra large t-shirt, one square foot of carpet or enough fiber fill to fill one ski jacket.
Many of our students participated and helped make our world a better place by joining in to recycle. Watch later in the school year for another recycling event. In the meantime, keep doing your part!
