See article published in The Sentinel newspaper, May 14, 2009! Updates and May Fun! Next came Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week. We treated the teachers and staff to a Soup and Salad Lunch and a Mexican Lunch with food provided by our wonderful volunteers! One day, we left a sweet treat in their mailboxes, another day they were treated to ice cream sundaes, and every day of the week we had special door prize drawings for awesome prizes donated by several volunteer parents. PTA received many thanks and we pass that on to all of our super parent and grandparent volunteers! Without you, we could not have done so much to appreciate our teachers and staff. Also during this week, The First Graders enjoyed a Winnie the Pooh performance by Main Street Theater courtesy of PTA. This week, PTA brought The Ned Show to our students. This show combines yo-yo fun with a wonderful message: Never Give Up, Encourage Others, and Do Your Best. Students were in awe over the yo-yo tricks performed. Now through next Wednesday (the 20th), yo-yos and other accessories from The Ned Show may be purchased before school (8:00am) in the Ben Bowen lobby area for those interested. Another exciting time was the last incentive prize from the Write A Check Fundraiser... the Tape the Principal to the Wall event. As you can see from the photo above, you CAN tape a principal to the wall with the right amount of Duck tape. Special thanks goes out to all who contributed to the fundraiser and to Mr. Fillbrandt for being a good sport and letting us Sink Him and Tape Him as prizes for this fundraiser. We raised over $2800 together and this allowed PTA to fund performances, plays, Kindergarten field trip and other events this school year. As our students move forward into Kindergarten, First and Second grades, PTA wishes them all a happy summer and a great year ahead. We would also like to thank the truly great Ben Bowen parents and grandparents for their involvement in helping PTA in so many ways. Everyone's efforts combined have made for a rewarding and enriching year for our students, our teachers and our school. "THANK YOU!" It's hard to believe the end of the school year is near! The month of May has been a busy one for PTA (and fun, too). Earlier this month, PTA provided inflatables for the students to enjoy along with popsicles for a cool treat at Field Day. Helpful volunteers managed the inflatables, water tables and PTA tent.
